Rick Famuyiwa leaves The Flash film

Director Rick Famuyiwa has quit ‘The Flash’ film.
The 43-year-old Nigerian/American filmmaker was brought on board for the blockbuster, a standalone movie about the titular super-fast superhero Barry Allen who is played by Ezra Miller, after Seth Grahame-Smith exited the project back in May.
Now Famuyiwa – whose previous credits include ‘Dope’ and ‘Talk To me’ – has decided he is not the man to bring the DC Comics adventure to the big screen and has cited creative differences between himself and executives at Warner Bros. Studios for his decision but hopes the movie is a success.
In a statement, he said: "When I was approached by Warner Bros and DC about the possibility of directing ‘The Flash’, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day. I was also excited to work with Ezra Miller, who is a phenomenal young actor. I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humour, and heart. While it’s disappointing that we couldn’t come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity. I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical, and multicultural point of view. I wish Warner Brothers, DC, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and Ezra Miller all the best as they continue their journey into the speed force."
Famuyiwa’s exit and another filming commitment for Miller, 24, means the movie will be delayed.
Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment had scheduled a March 2017 shoot and March 2018 release date but now that will be pushed back.
Miller – who will next be seen as The Flash in ensemble film ‘Justice League’, which hits cinemas in November 2017 – will be joined in the film by Billy Crudup as Henry Allen, the father of the titular superhero character, while Jai Courtney has revealed he wants his ‘Suicide Squad’ character Captain Boomerang to be the main villain for Miller’s Flash.
Rumours have circulated that Boomerang could be an adversary for The Flash since Miller had a cameo in ‘Suicide Squad’ and because Boomerang – criminal George ‘Digger’ Harkness – is a regular foe of The Flash in the DC Comics series.
