Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards: New album was like therapy

Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards says the recording of the girl group’s new album was a very "therapeutic process" for her.
The band have unveiled the first single ‘Shout Out to My Ex’ from their upcoming fourth LP ‘Glory Days’ and the track seemingly contains several lyrics which are about Perrie’s former fiancé Zayn Malik – who dumped her in August 2015.
Perrie – who is now dating ‘Our Girl’ hunk Luke Pasqualino – is yet to confirm whether or not the girl power song is about the ex-One Direction star but she has said the whole recording process for ‘Glory Days’ was cathartic for her.
In an interview with her bandmates on Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry, George Shelley and Lilah Parsons, the 23-year-old singer said: "I think the whole album has been like that for us. I feel like we’ve all had therapy on this album. We wrote about everything possible and we’ve been so honest and open about everything."
On the topic of whether or not the song is about Zayn, 23, the other girls, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, claimed it is about lots of different exes.
Jesy, 25, said: "It’s about everyone’s exes. Everyone’s got an ex."
The girls – who performed ‘Shout Out to My Ex’ on ‘The X Factor’ results show on Sunday night (16.10.16) – also shared their top tips to dealing with a break-up.
Jesy – who is engaged to Rixton singer Jake Roche – said: "It’s a healing process. Sit indoors, eat some ice-cream, eat a load of rubbish. Pour your heart out. And then when you’re done with that, get your glad rags on, go on a night out and party the night away!"
Leigh-Anne, 25, added: "And then put ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ on and all your troubles will be solved!"
You can tune in to Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry, George and Lilah, weekdays from 6.00am – 10am and Saturdays 6am – 9am.
