Michael Bublé was ‘scared as hell’ to perform after his operation

Michael Bublé was as "scared as hell" to perform after having surgery on his vocal chords.
The 41-year-old singer songwriter has admitted he was frightened to grace the stage on Wednesday (28.09.16) as part of the Apple Music Festival 10, which was held at London’s Roundhouse, because it was his first show in "nine months" after having the career-threatening operation.
Speaking at the event, the powerhouse said: "Tonight’s a little different. It’s been nine months since I’ve had a show. I’ve had surgery. My voice is huge. It’s been a long time and I couldn’t think of a better place to come and share this with you.
"When I come out here and I am scared as hell, I’m a dad and I think of my kids."
And Michael – who won the International Male solo artist Award at the Meteor Awards in 2010 – urged the crowd to sing along with him to help "ease" him back into being a vocalist.
He added: "Since I’m kind of easing my way back into being a vocalist I thought it would be cool to sing a song you could sing along with me. It’s a beautiful beautiful song."
Michael then broke into a rendition of Billy Paul’s 1972 single ‘Me And Mrs Jones’, followed by Nina Simone’s ‘My Baby Don’t Care’ and his 2009 hit record ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’.
Despite singing a cover of a various hit records during the evening, including tracks by Dean Martin, Michael revealed his "favourite artist alive" is Sir Van Morrison, who he worked with on the record ‘Real, Real Gone’.
Prior to belting out the 71-year-old musician’s ‘Crazy Love’, he said: "This is probably my favourite artist alive. I’m talking of course of Mr Van Morrison. The greatest moment was when his management called me to duet with him. What a dream come true for me. To meet him was awe inspiring I just remember that warmth."
Michael ended his one-hour long set with an honest speech warning his fans not to expect an encore after he sang his final song, despite ending his previous performances with ‘Home’.
Michael – who has sons Noah, three, and eight month old Elias with his wife Luisana – said: "Ladies and gentleman you know those shoes they do a fake encore … I’m not doing that. It’s cheesy. But here I’m not coming back. The dyslexic in me thinks those boos are amazing.
"I want to thank you guys. I couldn’t have asked for a better reunion. It’s the truth. When you look at me you see handsome rich guy. But beneath these chiselled abs and this spray tan truly truly … you know who I am. I am a guy from Canada from a family of fisherman.
"I’ve ended the last 15 years of my life with the same song. So I wanted to end with a different song."
