Prince Harry to attend WellChild awards

Prince Harry is to attend the WellChild Awards.
The 30-year-old royal – who is patron of WellChild will be among the guests at the Dorchester Hotel in London on October 3, who will gather to recognise children battling serious illness and medical professionals who help them in their fights.
Awards include inspirational child, inspirational young person, most caring young person, nurse award, professional award and a special recognition accolade, and judges have found it tough to choose a winner from the hundreds of nominations they’ve received from across the country.
WellChild’s director of programmes Linda Partridge said: "All the panel members are moved by the bravery of the children, the stories of selfless care and support and the dedication of the doctors, nurses, teachers, brothers and sisters who make a great difference to the lives of seriously-ill children and young people.
"The awards are a perfect demonstration of WellChild’s commitment to helping as many seriously-ill children and their families as we can and embody our aim of raising awareness of their needs."
Harry admitted at last year’s event that he finds the awards "humbling".
Speaking as he gave the special recognition award to Jane Concannon, who works as a Hospital Play Specialist at Manchester Children’s Hospital, he said: "I am humbled by the people and children I meet. You guys are awesome. The stories we have heard tonight are moving beyond words. They remind us of the utter insignificance of our everyday worries.
"Yet, one of the things that always stands out is the positivity shown by those in the most difficult and testing circumstances. It is heartening to hear so many stories of happiness and hope, even through the dark times."
