Vegan singer has confessed Grimes once killed an animal.
The 28-year-old singer may be on a mission to banish the cruelty of creatures but she has admitted she once shot a living species in Canada with her grandfather.
She explained: "To be honest, it [music] just never struck me as something girls couldn’t do. Even shooting. In Montreal, that’s what you do. I mean one time I shot an animal.
"It was my living nightmare, never again. But my grandpa was like – ‘Yeah, Claire’s the best shot.’ I hadn’t been raised as a boy, but with four brothers I did everything they did."
Despite her love for animals, the blonde beauty – whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher – views herself as a "bad vegan" because, although she’d love to follow an animal product-free diet, she finds it hard to stick to it all the time due to the amount of travelling she does.
She told InStyle magazine: "I’m a bad vegan. I’m a vegan as much as I can be but when you’re travelling on a lot of flights they just won’t give you vegan meals."
Meanwhile, the ‘Genesis’ hitmaker – who has four albums under her belt – never planned to fall into the music world and was initially keen to go down the science route after university.
She explained: "It is weird that I am a professional musician because that was never the plan."
