Prince Harry’s pal wins Paralympics gold

Prince Harry’s friend Elizabeth Marks has won a gold medal at the Paralympic Games.
The 25-year-old star followed on from her gold at this summer’s Invictus Games by repeating the feat in the 100m breaststroke race at the spectacle in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and set a new world record in the process.
She told the Team USA website: "I had no idea [I was winning].
"I can’t see when I am swimming. About 25 meters in I have no idea where anybody else is. As long as I feel pressure on my hands I know it is going well. I was just hoping for the best and putting everything I had into it."
Marks – who is in the US Army – first came to Harry’s attention when she struck gold at the Invictus Games and in an incredible gesture asked the 31-year-old prince to give her medal to the London hospital which saved her life.
Earlier this year, she praised Harry for being a "nice, honest" guy who does some great work supporting soldiers.
She said: "He’s a very nice, honest, good human being who is here for one purpose: to show the world that soldiers can move forward from their injuries, and to support them,
"He uses his fame and his influence to support soldiers."
Earlier this month, Harry wished the Invictus Games stars competing at the Rio 2016 Paralympics good luck.
He said: "To those Invictus Games competitors representing your five nations, all I have to say to you is what an incredible achievement – well done for your selection. You have trained harder than ever, but the fight to the finish line won’t be easy.
"You all know this better than anyone. Cherish this moment as you get to serve your country again. Absorb the applause and atmosphere for inspiring millions, but most importantly – have fun!"
