Katie Price: My kids are on Instagram for business

Katie Price has let her children join Instagram so they can further their own showbiz careers.
The 38-year-old star has broken the age Terms and Conditions of the photo sharing website by allowing her 11-year-old son Junior and nine-year-old daughter Princess to join the service even though the minimum age is 13.
Katie has been criticised for her decision to allow her two kids – her offspring with her ex-husband Peter Andre – on the platform and she has now defended her parental decision insisting the pair need to be on Instagram due to their burgeoning TV and media careers.
Speaking on the panel of ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (30.08.16), she said: "No buts, I don’t care. This is the point I am in no way a bad parent. I’ve got five beautiful, healthy, loving and well-mannered children. My kids have been brought up in the industry with their dad and me on TV shows, everyone knows who they are. Now they are being booked themselves for TV shows, modelling jobs and stuff like that. Social media is the future … The accounts are open but if you look on it they have contacts for work, they’re getting booked for things, it’s a business thing … They’ve grown up in the industry, they’re dad had them on his reality show for five years, they’ve been on my shows and they’re on my horse show."
Katie also revealed Junior and Princess – who appear with her on her new TLC TV show ‘Katie Price’s Pony Club’ – have very strict rules they must abide by to keep their accounts and she vets everything that they post and she won’t allow either of them on any other social media platforms.
The former glamour model also insists she has done nothing out of the ordinary by allowing her two kids on Instagram as most of their school friends already have accounts.
She explained: "I won’t allow them on Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter. All their friends who are nine and 11 are on Instagram, some are open, some are private. I’ve been saying, ‘No, no, no.’ Look, the show is out with them and I went, ‘If you want to be on Instagram, I have your password and you go on it when I’m next to you or you’re not on it at all.’ Anyone who tries to direct message them I delete it. So I’m in absolute in full control of it.
"But what can I do? They want to be normal, they’re like, ‘All our friends are on it.’ Princess wants to speak to her friends. I’m like, ‘But you’ve been at school with them all day, what else is there left to say?’ But I remember I would want to phone my friends when I got back from school talking rubbish because that’s what you do … I will protect them with my heart."
