Paul Loughran for Coronation Street

Paul Loughran is to join ‘Coronation Street’.
The 47-year-old actor – who is best known for playing Butch Dingle in ‘Emmerdale’ – has reportedly begun filming scenes as Craig Tinker’s (Colson Smith) father Darryl.
An insider told Metro.co.uk: "Paul has filmed some scenes as Darryl and there is huge drama ahead for the Tinkers as Craig comes face to face with his dad."
Paul is joining the ITV soap as Craig’s rogue father, who has been in and out of jail his whole life. Craig’s mother Beth (Lisa George) is forced to reveal her ex’s past when her son decides to sign up to join the police force.
The soap has promised a dramatic few months ahead as Samia Ghadie recently teased a "well-loved member of the cast" will die in heartbreaking scenes to be aired later this year.
The actress – who plays Maria Connor – said: "It’s been great fun filming, but this week I’ve been recording some of THE saddest scenes I’ve ever done in my 17 years at ‘Corrie’.
"When I first read the scripts I was in tears so getting to film them has just sent me off. You may need your tissues when they air. And we say a sad goodbye to a well loved member of the cast."
It is not yet known how the character will breathe their final breath but there will reportedly be a "huge explosion" tearing through Weatherfield in the next few months.
A source shared: "This is going to be up there with some of the best scenes in ‘Corrie’ history. Characters are going to be crawling through flames to escape, and there’s talk of killing at least one character."
