Debbie McGee jokes with undertaker after husband’s death

Debbie McGee had a joke with Paul Daniels’ undertaker.
The 57-year-old television personality was left heartbroken when her husband tragically died in March this year at the age of 77 but she has admitted, through her tears, she was still able to share a laugh with the funeral director.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Monday (22.08.16), she said: "Grief hits you when you least expect it. When Paul died, I had jokes with the undertaker! But other days I can’t. When someone dies you don’t remember the bad bits."
And, although Paul passed away five months ago, Debbie has admitted she is still grieving the loss of the comedy genius she was married to for 28 years.
She explained: "Waking up in the morning is hard. We used to talk forever in the mornings …
"I could never have anticipated … your fear is always losing them … I always used to have times where I wondered what I would do on my own. But when it actually happens, nobody can describe until you go through it.
"You feel like you are on a desert island on your own but you haven’t chosen to be on your own.
"Maybe divorced people feel like this, I don’t know, but it’s a weird thing of learning to cope with that."
However, the former ballet dancer praised her neighbours and friends for being supportive during this tough time, and said that whilst they had been "fantastic," it wasn’t enough to make the grieving any less painful.
She said: "I’ve got amazing friends and neighbours who’ve been fantastic but you can’t explain this feeling of being dropped in the ocean and you’re trying to keep swimming."
