Roxanne Pallett has turned down an ‘Emmerdale’ return.
The 33-year-old actress previously played Jo Sugden in the ITV soap and although bosses have tried to tempt her back with big-money offers, she has resisted so far, although she hasn’t ruled out a future return.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: "There have been phone calls about trying to get me back. But it’s never been the right time.
"I’ve always just started a job or I’ve been out of the country shooting a film. It’s typical that when the call has come it’s when I’ve been contracted to another project.
When they asked me back they had a storyline in mind. But I can’t say what it was because it may still happen.
"There may be a right time in the future. I loved working on Emmerdale and I loved my character.
"So if the time came when they had a great storyline and I was available to do it, then I think it would be brilliant.
"It would be great for the audience. They’re so loyal. I don’t go a week without someone stopping me and asking me about Jo. It’s been six years since I left but I’ll always love that character. It was my first ever role so I’ll always have huge affection for Jo. ‘Emmerdale’ brought me to life as an actress."
Kelvin Fletcher, who played Jo’s husband Andy Sugden, recently left the show but admitted he would also be up for a return at some stage.
He said: "You never know with a long running show but that’s for them [the producers] to kind of decide. I made that decision purely to go and explore other opportunities. At this moment in time, there’s so much drama and good TV being produced, I’m really confident."
