Dolly Parton pens song about love triangle

Dolly Parton has penned a track about a love triangle.
The 70-year-old singer has revealed she wrote ‘Can’t Be That Wrong’ about a close friend’s bond with two different people.
She said: "I wrote this song [‘Can’t Be That Wrong’] from true feelings. It’s about someone I know very well, who loved the person they had at home but they fell head over heels for someone else. This was so overwhelming that they were both just torn to pieces.
"I saw firsthand how sincere they were in their love. I mean, love is love: Whether it’s right or wrong, you cannot stop it. I’m not one to judge what’s right or wrong, but I know what they felt was real."
However, Dolly – who has been happily married to Carl Dean since 1966 – admits she rewrote the track multiple times as she didn’t want anyone to think she was writing about herself.
She added to USA Today: "There’s your cheatin’ love; that’s ‘Can’t Be That Wrong’. There’s a couple of corny little songs, like ‘Outside Your Door’ and ‘Head Over High Heels’ – that’s how you feel when you first all in love …
"I rewrote ‘Can’t Be That Wrong’ a lot, I guess because it’s my cheatin’ song. Maybe I was just feeling guilty! I was thinking, ‘I better get this right or somebody’s gonna think I’m the one screwing around!’"
Meanwhile, the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker previously revealed she isn’t worried about topping the charts.
She said: "I’m one of those people, I don’t do it for commercial reasons. I just write what I write and I sing what I sing and I just get in and do it. At this point in my life I’d probably have more success if I would work with other important people, but my songs are just so personal.
"If I’m looking for big hit records, I’d probably go looking for a big producer, but for now I like doing what I’m doing and I’m happy and content with that. And my true fans accept that."
