‘Coronation Street’s’ Maria Connor is "shattered" by Marcus Dent’s betrayal.
The Weatherfield favourite will have a breakdown when she discovers her boyfriend – played by Charlie Condou – has been cheating on her with Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley), and will begin acting odd.
Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria, said: "She’s heading for some sort of breakdown and there’ll be some unexpected behaviour from her. It’s one betrayal too far, so all of her past tragedies will come to a head. She has no trust in anyone anymore. Marcus has shattered her dreams completely."
Maria will end her relationship with midwife Marcus and the messy split will take the character to a dark place.
Samia explained: "She wants to kill him. She’s fuming with them both. She sees them in the street together and presumes they’re now an item, that’s another kick in the teeth."
And the hairdresser is further shocked to discover her friend Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) has been suspicious about Marcus and Todd.
The actress added to Soaplife magazine: "She is furious Fiz never said anything. Maria’s angry at the world and feels as though everyone is laughing at her. She tells Fiz she doesn’t need enemies with friends like her."
