Jeremy Renner wanted his Avengers character killed off

Jeremy Renner wanted his ‘Avengers’ character killed off in the first movie.
The 45-year-old actor plays Hawkeye in the Marvel film series but admits that early on in the process, he told producers to kill his character off as he didn’t want to be "Loki’s minion".
He said: "I never really told anybody this, but in the first ‘Avengers’… I was just getting to know who Hawkeye was, and then zap, I go round like a zombie, I’m like Loki’s minion. And I’m still not even sure who Hawkeye was at that point. So I’m a little frustrated, because I was so excited to figure out who Hawkeye was.
"I just had a heart attack in every scene – I’d just be walking with … (co-star) Scarlett Johansson, and just be like, ‘Ugh.’ And they said, ‘What are you doing man?’ ‘I’m giving you an option, if you just want to kick me out of this movie. Just you know, at any given moment, if you wanna kill me off, daddy’s gonna be having a heart attack.’"
However, Jeremy is now glad the producers decided to persevere with his character as he is looking forward to "exploring" the character more.
Speaking at London Film and Comic-Con, he added: "I don’t really want him to die now. I really got to explore him a lot, and I can’t wait to explore him more, and there’s some really cool ideas coming up."
Meanwhile, Jeremy previously revealed he would like to bring Hawkeye to Netflix.
He said: "I think that Netflix is actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that (the Marvel Cinematic Universe) world.
"These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now. You’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though."
