Mary J. Blige believes divorce is part of ‘divine plan’

Mary J. Blige has confirmed she is divorcing her husband and believes there is a "divine plan" that is responsible for the break-up.
The ‘Missing You’ singer has filed to legally separate from Martin ‘Kendu’ Isaacs – who is also her manager – after 12 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences for the cause of the split.
Now, Mary has released a statement admitting things just haven’t worked out between the couple but she is determined to move on with her life.
Her representative said: "Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would. But, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything."
The R&B star is going to put all her energy into recording her new album – her first since 2014’s ‘The London Sessions’ on which she worked with Sam Smith, Naughty Boy, Emeli Sande and Disclosure among others – and she has thanked all of her fans for their messages of support.
The representative added: "Mary will continue writing and working on her album which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time."
Mary has previously opened up on her relationship with Martin, and admitted having a professional relationship with her husband could lead to complications.
She said: "He always has my back – he’s going to fight to the death for Mary J Blige. The downside is that there’s no separation – it’s on all the time.
"When you don’t feel like answering to your manager, he’s still your husband. If one of you doesn’t want to talk about something right now, you have to respect that. And you have to respect each other’s space."
