Buckingham Palace to host Queen clothing exhibit

Buckingham Palace is to feature a new exhibition of Queen Elizabeth’s clothes when the royal household opens its doors to the public this summer.
An array of the 90-year-old monarch’s attire will go on display, including her wedding and Coronation dresses, while she is in her Scottish residence of Balmoral.
The exhibition, entitled Fashioning a Reign: 90 Years of Style from the Queen’s Wardrobe, will also feature the Angela Kelly peach gown she wore to record her skit with Daniel Craig as James Bond for the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.
Caroline de Guitaut, from the Royal Collection Trust, revealed there were two of the dresses made but only Angela knew what they were for – not even the queen’s seamstress was told it was for the secretly-filmed skit.
She told the Daily Express newspaper: "The second version was made in complete secrecy and even those working on the making of these didn’t actually understand why there were two identical outfits – so it has a fantastic story.
"The philosophy behind the design I believe is to have something in a colour that wouldn’t be in anyway representative of any of the countries participating, so that’s why the colour is quite unique, that sort of peachy, coraly pink."
Buckingham Palace’s summer opening begins tomorrow (23.07.16) until October 2.
The exhibition is included in the price of a general admission ticket, which is £21.50 for adults with concessions for over 60s, children and the disabled.
