Marc Anthony is Latin Grammy Person of the Year

Marc Anthony will be honoured as the Latin Grammy Person of the Year.
The 47-year-old singer is "ecstatic and humbled" after learning he will be recognised by the Latin Recording Academy for both his career and humanitarian endeavours at a special event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on November 16, a day before the main awards ceremony takes place.
He said: "I was ecstatic when I received the news.
"It is an honour and I am humbled to be selected as The Person of Year recipient for my contributions as a music ambassador and my humanitarian efforts."
The Latin Recording Academy are confident they have chosen the right person to pick up the accolade this year.
Gabriel Abaroa Jr., president and CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, said in a statement: "Marc Anthony is synonymous with excellence and commitment to perfection.
"The world knows him as a music king; however, on November 16, the award-winning singer will not only be honoured for his musical legacy but also applauded for his relentless humanitarian efforts."
During the Person of the Year gala, Marc will be honoured by a number of fellow performers – who have yet to be announced – who will singe a selection of his biggest hits.
The ‘I Need to Know’ hitmaker has sold over 12 million albums across the glove, while the Maestro Cares Foundation, which he co-founded in 2012, helps rescue and provide critical resources to underprivileged children in Latin America.
Since its creation, it has opened orphanages in the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Mexico.
Previous winners of the prestigious award have included Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, Roberto Carlos, Gloria Estefan, Miguel Bosé, and Joan Manuel Serrat.
