EastEnders’ Danny-Boy Hatchard will be ‘upset’ his Lee and Whitney split

EastEnders’ Danny-Boy Hatchard will be "upset" if his alter-ego Lee Carter splits up with Whitney Dean.
The 24-year-old actor has admitted he’d be devastated if the fragile fishmonger – a role he’s portrayed since 2014 – breaks up with the brunette barmaid (Shona McGarty) over his drunken bunk-up with Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald).
Danny-Boy explained: "I will be upset if they break up as I really enjoy working with Shona. She’s a fantastic actress, and I think it would be nice to see a young working-class couple experience something like this and come out the other side … They’ve been through so much together and yet they’re still madly in love and are as strong as ever. It’s that side of their story that I hope Shona and I are lucky enough to show."
The young couple have just discovered their expecting a baby together and Danny hopes his alter-ego and Whitney stay together so he can work with some adorable babies on set.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he said: "I love working with kids so I would really enjoy that. Whitney’s not had an on-screen child of her own, either, so I think it would be nice for Shona as well. But it all depends on whether the ‘EastEnders’ story team feel that Whitney and Lee are ready for a family."
