Michael J. Fox joins Coldplay for Back to the Future tribute

Michael J. Fox joined Coldplay on stage to perform songs from ‘Back to the Future’.
The 55-year-old actor took to the stage at the band’s New Jersey gig at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday (17.07.16) after being called up by Chris Martin after accepting a video request from the ‘Yellow’ singer’s son Moses to play a track from their favourite film, the 1985 classic.
Moses, 10, said in the video: "I was just wondering if you could play a song from both of ours favourite movie, ‘Back To The Future’. I love you so much."
Chris and co started playing 1954 song ‘Earth Angel’ by The Penguins, which was performed in the movie by fictional band Marvin Berry and the Starlighters at the school dance set in 1955.
Mid-song, Chris called Fox on stage to play guitar mirroring what happens to his character Marty McFly when he steps in on the six-string when the Starlighter’s guitarist injures his hand.
As the song came to a close, Chris, 39, exclaimed: "Our hero Michael J. Fox!"
Chris then asked the audience if "anyone would like us to do one more song?" and as the fans cheered wildly, Coldplay and Fox launched into Chuck Berry’s 1958 hit ‘Johnny B Goode’ just like McFly did in the movie.
Chris described the moment as "a dream come true".
It’s not the first time Fox has performed with the band – also comprised of Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion.
The five guys played together in 2013 at a New York City benefit show for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Fox has lived with the illness since 1991, being diagnosed with the debilitating condition – which affects the central nervous system – when he was just 29.
Moses is the youngest of the two children he has with his ex-wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The former couple also have 12-year-old daughter Apple together.
Coldplay are currently on their ‘A Head Full of Dreams Tour’.
