Carrie Fisher: Han Solo’s funeral is big part of Episode VIII

Carrie Fisher has revealed ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ will feature Han Solo’s funeral.
The 59-year-old actress plays Princess Leia – now known as General Leia Organa – in the sci-fi franchise has revealed she and all the cast returning cast from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ have been busy shooting the final scenes for the iconic space smuggler, played by Harrison Ford, who was killed by his son Kylo Ren in ‘Episode VII’.
During a panel discussion at the Star Wars Celebration convention held in London at the weekend, Carrie was asked what she had been filming for ‘Episode VIII’, she replied: "Han’s funeral."
Carrie admitted reuniting with Harrison, 74, was one of her favourite things about returning to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
The actress is proud that their characters’ relationship is central to the plot of the new trilogy due to the quest for power of their son Kylo Ren – portrayed by Adam Driver.
She said: "We had a very volatile relationship, which leads to space divorce as you know. Or space estrangement, at least. We had a child who turned out to be Hitler, and you’d feel bad too if your son had done all that.
She jokingly added: "It was fun to go back to the old days when I treated him badly. My favourite part of ‘Star Wars’ has always been treating Harrison badly."
The next film’s director Rian Johnson, has also revealed that they will be breaking with tradition and starting ‘Episode VIII’ from the precise point that ‘The Force Awakens’ ended, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) finding Jedi Master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) who has been living as a recluse.
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ is scheduled to be released in December 2017.
