Zachary Quinto took a set of Spock ears from the set of ‘Star Trek Beyond’ as a memento.
The 39-year-old actor plays the Vulcan Commander for a third time in the new sci-fi film and he couldn’t resist grabbing a pair of prosthetic pointy ears to keep at his home.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the sci-fi movie’s European premiere in London on Tuesday night (12.07.16), he said: "Maybe I took a couple of mementos. Maybe a pair of ears or two."
However, Quinto isn’t sure where his ears are at the moment and he needs to find a permanent place to keep them on display.
He added: "I don’t know where they are actually, I need to find a place for them."
Quinto considers Spock – who was portrayed by Leonard Nimoy in the original TV series and first films – to be one of the best characters he has got to bring to life on the big screen, despite his logical approach to the Starship Enterprise’s adventures.
He said: "It’s a unique character and I enjoyed the diversity of his experience in this film a lot and I love this character and love when I get to play him, it’s fun to go back and be put in some new situations … I don’t think Spock is heartless at all I think he has a huge heart. Actually I just think he’s limited in how he expresses it. But I think he’s an incredibly magnanimous character, I think he has the best interest of humanity at heart and mind all the time. One of his man axioms is the need of the many outweigh the needs of the few. I think those are really heartfelt sentiments and even though he doesn’t express his emotion as fully as other characters might, I don’t think that makes him any less full of heart."
Quinto was joined on the special white carpet at the European premiere by his co-stars Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Sofia Boutella and John Cho and famous ‘Trekkies’ Lorraine Kelly, Kasabian’s Tom Meighan and Dynamo.
