Alicia Vikander excited about Tomb Raider role

Alicia Vikander is very "excited" to play "icon" Lara Croft in the ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot.
The 27-year-old actress is taking on the role of the adventurous archaeologist in the action movie, which will tell the origin story of the famous video game character, and she cannot wait to get stuck into the part.
During an interview on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’, she said: "I mean, for me, I’m so excited to do it. She was such an icon, I played the game when I was a kid, but they rebooted the game a few years ago so it is now becoming more of an origins story. So it’s quite different."
By taking on the role of Lara – created by British gaming company Core Design in 1996 – Alicia will replace Angelina Jolie, who was widely credited for making the movie adaptation of the video game franchise a huge success when she brought the British explorer Lara Croft to life on the big screen in 2001 and then again in ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life’ in 2003.
Few details have been revealed for the film’s plot, however, the last two video games in the series – with the most recent being 2015’s ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider – have focused on Lara at the start of her adventures.
Roar Uthaug will direct the movie with Graham King as producer for the MGM and Warner Bros. co-production.
Alicia will seemingly not have any problem with the physical aspects of the role as she did many of her own stunts in new movie ‘Jason Bourne’ – in which she plays Agent Heather Lee opposite Matt Damon.
She revealed: "I had to do the stunts that I was involved in (for ‘Jason Bourne’). Matt, in this film, said it’s a bit like dancing you, you know? For the fighting sequences it’s like learning choreography."
