Russell Brand has bought a pooch for his pregnant fiancée.
The 41-year-old comedian gave his partner Laura Gallacher – who is expecting the couple’s first child – the gift of an Alsatian puppy, which he has named Bear, and has been seen walking in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England where he shares a home with the 27-year-old beauty.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Ever since Russell moved to the countryside he has been desperate to get a dog – and saw this as the right time."
The ‘Arthur’ actor thinks looking after the canine will be "good practice" for when he becomes a dad.
The source added: "He reckons looking after Bear will be good practice for him and Laura before baby arrives this summer.
"If he is as hands-on as he with Bear, he is going to be all right."
However, it’s not the first time he’s splashed out on a pet for a loved one.
Brand previously purchased a pub called Sue for his former girlfriend Jemima Khan – who he dated from 2013 to 2014 – when she turned 40.
It comes after Brand confirmed he was to become a dad on Friday (08.07.16).
It was first reported in May that they are expecting their first baby in September and Brand – who was previously married to Katy Perry – revealed he is doing some preparation for impending fatherhood.
He shared a picture of himself reading Dean Beaumont’s ‘The Expectant Dad’s Handbook’ on Instagram and wrote: "Right then. My Mum bought me this. Time to get ready! #trewlit #bookstagram #parenting (sic)"
And his Instagram biography now reads: "Come join my #trewLit book club – currently reading The Expectant Dad’s Handbook! (sic)"
Meanwhile, it was recently claimed the couple plan on getting married.
They announced their happy news to friends and family with a low-key party two-week-ago.
A source previously said: "Russell didn’t want a big fuss this time after his very public relationship with Katy. Laura is also keen to keep their romance low-key, so the small, intimate party was very much in keeping with their ‘homebods’ image.
"As they are becoming parents, Russell wanted to do the right thing and make Laura his wife. She’s delighted he asked."
