Pixar to release original movie every year

Pixar are planning on releasing an original film every year.
The animation studio – which is part of The Walt Disney Company – has made a creative decision to focus on bringing new characters to life on the big screen even though some of its most successful and best loved movies, such as ‘Finding Dory’ and ‘Toy Story III’, are new instalments in existing franchises.
Company President Jim Morris is very proud of the standalone films such as ‘Up’ or ‘Wall-E’ and says it has to be there focus to bring new ideas to life.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: "Most studios jump on doing a sequel as soon as they have a successful film, but our business model is a filmmaker model, and we don’t make a sequel unless the director of the original film has an idea that they like and are willing to go forward on.
"A sequel in some regards is even harder than the original because you’ve got this defined world which, on the one hand, is a leg up, and on the other hand has expectations that you can’t disappoint on. Our plan had been to make an original every year and a sequel every other year, if the idea came forth to do it."
Morris also revealed that once Pixar – which was acquired by Disney in 2006 for a whopping $7.4 billion – has completed the sequels to ‘Toy Story’, now on its fourth film, and ‘The Incredibles’ all the next films will be original stories.
He continued: "Everything after ‘Toy Story’ and ‘The Incredibles’ is an original right now."
