Oritse Williams pens song for his mother

Oritse Williams has recorded a song that is a letter to his mother.
The 29-year-old former JLS star has been a carer to his mother since the age of 12 as she has multiple sclerosis and he has penned a solo track which is about their relationship.
Oritse has revealed that the first opportunity to hear the song ‘Take Care of You’ – which will appear on his debut solo LP – will be in a BBC documentary on the NHS which is to air on BBC One.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Oritsé said: "I’ve got a documentary coming out this week with my mum. ‘Matrons, Medicine and Me: 70 years of the NHS’ a documentary that features me and my mum about the history of the NHS. Actually I think one of my songs is featured in there as well. Yeah, one of my new ones. It was like a letter to my mother, a song that I wrote form the eyes of a 12-year-old boy – you know – kind of launched into this caring role. It’s very personal – really, really personal."
Understandably, the NHS is an institution that Oritse is passionate about and he has concerns about what might happen to the National Health Service in the wake of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union following a referendum last month.
He added: "This documentary is really important, because since Brexit I feel like this documentary is really gonna support what the NHS has done all of these years and show how the UK benefits from this amazing service.
"I don’t wanna get too political on things but if you’re going to send messages out to the UK public then you’ve got to honour those promises. And you know, politicians are forever going back on their words. So, I think that [Brexit] is disappointing but hopefully this documentary that is coming out will show how important the NHS is to all of us."
Oritse has changed his name to OWS for his solo recording and the new record is called ‘Waterline (OWS Song)’.
Oritsé has said that there are many influences on the album including Coldplay and Prince.
