Mark Rylance wants to be Jane Bond

Mark Rylance thinks he is more likely to star as Jane Bond than James Bond.
The acclaimed stage and screen actor has played men and women with equal conviction during his career and as speculation mounts about the identity of the next 007, Mark has joked he’d be better suited to playing James’ female equivalent.
Asked if he would be interested in the coveted role, Mark quipped: "Only if it’s Jane Bond. If they decide to have a woman, then I’ll go up for that."
Mark recently worked with award-winning director Steven Spielberg on his eagerly-awaited movie adaptation of ‘The BFG’, and Mark has admitted he felt honoured to work with such a talented moviemaker, likening it to playing alongside one of the world’s great soccer stars.
He told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: "With Steven you feel like you’re just making something together in the garage. You feel that you are a collaborator.
"He’s completely calm in the middle of all this madness, like a kid. And he’s surrounded by people who really are the best. It’s like going to play for Barcelona with Messi there."
But while Mark occupies the incredibly glitzy sphere of Hollywood, he is also mindful of other, more significant, issues in the world.
He reflected: "There is too much money in the hands of too few at the moment, seeing as there is so much refugee suffering. We need to find a way of sharing our resources better."
Mark admitted to being impressed by Spielberg’s low-key approach towards philanthropy.
He shared: "Steven is very active in the world. You know, he’s the real BFG."
