James Van Der Beek to star in new British comedy Carters Get Rich

James Van Der Beek is to play an American billionaire in new British comedy series ‘Carters Get Rich’ comedy.
The 39-year-old hunk – famous for his titular role is US teen drama ‘Dawson’s Creek’ – has been cast as Trent Zebrisky in the six-part Sky1 show.
In the programme, 11 year-old Harry Carter (Rio Chambers) creates mobile app Honc, which helps geeky boys like him talk to girls, and it’s huge success catches the attention of Trent who buys it for £10 million.
Announcing the series, Adam MacDonald from Sky said: "I can’t wait to share this thoroughly modern sitcom on Sky 1. Funny and fresh, the unstoppable Carter family put the ‘social’ in ‘social media’ & the ‘O.L’ in ‘L.O.L’. It’s a Honc-ing good show with a Honc-ing good cast!"
The comedy has been written by Claire Downes, Stuart Lane and Ian Jarvis – the team behind ITV2’s ‘The Job Lot’ – and will air on Sky1 in the autumn.
The sitcom looks at how the family cope with the life-changing invention and the family adviser, Etonian Oliver (John Finnemore), Trent installs to guide them.
Van Der Beek will star alongside ‘Agatha Raisin’ star Rhashan Stone, ‘Our Girls’ actress Kerry Godliman, John Finnemore from ‘Miranda’, ‘Camping’ star Rhianna Merralls and newcomer Rio Chambers.
Roughcut TV’s Ash Atalla, who worked on ‘The Office’, and Alex Smith, who is known for his work on ‘Trollied’, are executive producers.
