Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip begin a two-day visit to Northern Ireland on Monday (27.06.16).
The couple have a busy schedule for their trip with the Queen set for meetings with Secretary of State Theresa Villiers, First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness at Hillsborough Castle on Monday evening.
The following day they will make their way to the Giant’s Causeway to be given a guided tour and meet volunteers, before heading to Bushmills Village to unveil a statue of Robert Quigg – a soldier who fought at the Battle of the Somme and was awarded the Victoria Cross.
They will wrap up their trip with a final stop off at Bellarena Railway Station to unveil a plaque to mark the official opening of the premises.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the Queen has paid a visit to Northern Ireland as she’s made 23 visits over the course of her reign, starting with her first stop over in July 1953.
Her last trip took place in 2014 when she stayed for three days, during which she visited the ‘Game of Thrones’ set.
And she made history in 2012, when she shook hands with former IRA member McGuinness for the first time.
