Princess Anne opens St John Ambulance HQ

Britain’s Princess Anne opened St John Ambulance’s new headquarters yesterday (23.06.16).
The Princess Royal headed to Cambridge, south east England, to mark the opening of the first aid charity’s new centre, which will be used for training and to house a cycle response unit.
Anne – who is Commandant in Chief (Youth) of St John Ambulance – is quoted by Cambridge News as saying: "What an advantage to have a place like this to help support not just Cambridge but all of the country.
"I hope this centre will raise the profile for you all and this region as you’ve steadily improved the facilities to support your full-time staff and your volunteers in this region.
"I hope this building will fulfil all the ambitions you have for it."
The princess unveiled a plaque and presented a gold laurel leaf badge to Judith Belshaw, the daughter of Ann Goodman, who played a big part in setting up St John Ambulance in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge.
The centre is named after Ann, who has sadly passed away.
The 65-year-old royal’s presence went down well with Wayne Badcock, regional operational cycling lead for the East of England, who praised the princess for being "down to earth".
He told the publication: "She was very nice, very polite and down to earth. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s not something you do every day."
