Jim Carrey and Eli Roth to team up on horror film

Jim Carrey and Eli Roth are set to team up on a horror film.
The 54-year-old star will star in and executive produce the new spine-tingling project titled ‘Aleister Arcane’, while the 44-year-old hunk has jumped on board as the director.
The movie will be the big screen adaptation of the 2004 book of the same name, which was penned by Steve Niles.
The plot follows the titular character – an old man living in a small town in Oklahoma who is also a late-night horror TV host – as he becomes a recluse after he’s run off air by the town’s adult citizens. A group of children befriend him and quickly realise they’re the only ones who may be able to break a curse that he’s cast on the town before he dies.
According to Variety, Paramount picked up the rights to ‘Aleister Arcane’ in 2004 but they eventually lapsed.
It’s not yet known whether the horror has been given a release date or when it’s expected to go into production but it seems it’s come along at the right time as Carrey hasn’t been seen on screen since 2014’s ‘Dumb and Dumber To’.
This will be the first time the actor has taken the leading role in this type of genre, although he did star in the psychological thriller ‘The Number 23’ back in 2007.
He’s also made appearances in a few comics-related movies such as ‘The Mask’, ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Kick-Ass 2’.
