Charlie Sheen has been celibate for seven months.
The 50-year-old actor – who once had three porn-star girlfriends at the same time – has not had sex in over half a year because women are put off by his HIV positive status but he insists he is surprisingly content with his new quieter life.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "HIV is not the best pick-up line. So it has happened as a result of everybody else and myself having the knowledge, and that’s fine.
"You’d be amazed how much more you can accomplish and how much more you can learn when you’re not just trying to have sex.
"I make jokes about the diagnosis because you have to. Otherwise it’s just ‘awkward city’.
"It’s fine. I mean, sex isn’t going anywhere. It’s still there. And if available, awesome. If not, no big deal. I’ll spend more time hanging with my parents, you know?"
Charlie also hit out at exes who tried to blackmail him about his HIV status before he was forced to go public with his diagnosis.
He said: "The nerve of them. But I’ve taken a lot of bullets out a lot of their guns. That’s why I went out live to say, ‘This is what’s going on’.
"I could see them all at home saying, ‘Goddammit, now I’ve got to go and get a job’.
"There were a few stragglers after that who came after me and said I was a liar. You know what, I create fiction for a living so don’t talk to me about lying, right?"
Charlie recently signed up to promote the new Lelo Hex condom range and admits he is an unusual choice but says his experience can help others.
He said: "OK. I get that part of the argument. That’s cool. If not me, who?
"I can say to guys, ‘Spend the extra two seconds, walk through the awkward moment and you can avoid a lot of distress’."
