Rolling Stones movie to be directed by Andy Goddard

Andy Goddard will direct The Rolling Stones movie ‘Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell With the Rolling Stones’.
The 47-year-old filmmaker, who helmed several episodes of ‘Downton Abbey’ and wrote and directed ‘Set Fire to the Stars’, has been given the task of retelling a summer in the life of Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood on the big screen.
The movie will be based on the 2006 book of the same name written by Robert Greenfield, which recounts the events of 1971 when the legendary rock stars recorded their tenth studio ‘Exile on Main Street’.
The LP was written in Keith Richard’s basement at his Nellcôte mansion in the south of France when the band fled Britain to avoid paying taxes.
Speaking about the experience, Richards previously told Rolling Stone magazine: "It was a strange atmosphere. It was very, very murky — and dusty. It wasn’t a great environment for, like, breathing. Mick Taylor and I would just peer through the murk at each other and say, ‘OK, what key is it in?’ "
Filmmakers are searching for actors to portray Jagger and Richards, both now aged 72.
Meanwhile, the group are still going strong and gigging around the world and have recorded two new songs with Eric Clapton for their forthcoming album.
And Wood, 69, recently decided to quit smoking in order to improve his health for the benefit of his and his wife Sally’s newborn twins Alice and Graice.
