Sheridan Smith signed off sick for another month

Sheridan Smith has been signed off sick for another month.
The acclaimed actress was due to return to the West End show ‘Funny Girl’ last night (10.06.16) after taking four weeks off due to stress and exhaustion, but doctors have confirmed she is still not fit to return and has, therefore, been signed off for another four weeks.
In a statement, producers of the show said: "Sheridan’s recovery from stress and exhaustion is the absolute priority. She is doing really well and is incredibly keen to return as soon as possible.
"Following medical advice, her return to the production will be slightly later than originally anticipated – no later than week commencing 11th July."
Since taking a break from the show, Sheridan has been spending time at country retreats and with her dad Colin, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
Last month, meanwhile, Sheridan’s understudy Natasha Barnes admitted she was missing her friend since she took a break from ‘Funny Girl’.
Although Natasha is proud to have the trust of the production team, she admitted her concern for Sheridan has taken the gloss off her achievement.
Natasha said: "This is absolutely the pinnacle of my career. Because for eight years I’ve been losing out to people who had bigger profiles than me and to be here now, and getting standing ovations is amazing.
"But because Sheridan’s a friend and we’re a family, it’s never going to feel whole without her here. When I’m on stage I don’t have time to consider it but backstage before and after the show there is this absence. I miss her and worry about her and I hope that she’s alright."
