Britain’s Queen Elizabeth directed her own photo shoot

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth planned her own photo shoot for Vanity Fair.
The 90-year-old royal appears on the front cover of the magazine with her favourite pooches – Holly, Willow, Vulcan and Candy – and acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz, who was behind the camera, enjoyed taking Her Majesty’s direction.
She said: "The most moving, important thing about this shoot is that these were all her ideas. [The Queen] wanted to be photographed with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh; her daughter, Anne, the Princess Royal; and her corgis."
It was decided that the photo shoot should take place at the Queen’s home of Windsor Castle because it is the place she is most "relaxed".
Annie added to Vanity Fair magazine: "I was told how relaxed she was at Windsor, and it was really true. You get the sense of how at peace she was with herself, and very much enthralled with her family."
Meanwhile, Annie – who has worked with the Queen on many occasions – previously described the monarch as "feisty".
She said: "Oh my god, she’s feisty. That was the session that had so much controversy over it. And I said, ‘what are you talking about?’ I mean, she was just incredible to work with.
"The reality is, she is a woman with a great sense of duty. I mean she not only stayed the entire 25 minutes, 30 minutes, but she waited for me to say I was done. And then I said thank you. And she didn’t get up and leave. She’s feisty. I mean, it’s like photographing your great-aunt or something like that. She has so much energy and so much drive. And she definitely has opinions."
