Rebel Wilson is set to star in an untitled romantic comedy by New Line.
The 37-year-old actress, who rose to fame in hit movies ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’, has been lined up for the lead female role in the forthcoming title that is yet to find a name and a director.
Wilson will play a cynical young woman who doesn’t believe in love but wakes up one day to find her whole life has been a romantic comedy, according to Variety.
Erin Cardillo wrote the original script which has been adapted by Dana Fox and Katie Silberman
Elsewhere, the blonde star was seen earlier this year in Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy ‘Grimsby’ and is attached to reprise her role as Fat Amy in ‘Pitch Perfect 3’.
The busy actress also made no secret of the fact she begged for a cameo in Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders’ new movie ‘Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie’, based on the famed British TV series, and previously revealed Saunders is one of her comedy heros and she wrote an email to her to plead for a part.
She gushed: "I’m a huge ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ fan. Jennifer Saunders was one of the first women I saw on screen writing and performing her own material and I got to meet her last year in London and I cried when I met her! She’s every bit as amazing as I thought.
"I emailed her and said, ‘If you need me for anything I’ll be there.’ I full out got down on my knees and begged. There’s no level to which I wouldn’t have gone to!"
Rebel isn’t the only star making an appearance in the new blockbuster – which comes out in July – as Chris Colfer, models Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, Kim Kardashian West and designer Anya Hindmarch have also got involved.
