Michael Fassbender’s poor Polish

Michael Fassbender had to learn Polish for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ – but wasn’t very good.
The 39-year-old actor’s character, Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto, is seen in the movie trying to forget his mutant past as he forges a new life in Eastern Europe with his family, and the German-Irish star struggled when it came to getting to grips with the local language.
He said: "I turned up and started to learn Polish. I’m excellent at Polish. I can sing in Polish, I can dance in Polish, I can cook Polish meals. No, I’m pretty bad.
"If a person is a native Polish speaker, they’d be appalled but I tried my best.
"At the beginning, they had pages of it and I said, ‘There’s no way I can get this in a week.’ So we pared it down and I worked way at it as best as I could.
"I’m always open to criticism – I welcome it."
Michael quickly struck up a friendship with franchise newcomer Oscar Isaac- who plays the formidable mutant Apocalypse – but admits he came off better during their bonding sessions than his new pal.
He told heat magazine: "It was a pleasure. We just hit it off immediately. We had dinner the night before we were filming and we probably had one too many drinks that night – he was feeling it in the make-up trailer the next morning as I arrived an hour and a half later than him."
Another of Michael’s new co-stars, Sophie Turner, recently admitted she knew they’d get along when he swore at her on their first meeting.
She said: "I was nervous about meeting Michael Fassbender, but [on my first day on set] I looked over and he gave me the middle finger, jokingly, and I thought, ‘We’re going to get on.’ "
