Britain’s Countess of Wessex paid a visit to a school for autistic children in Oxford on Thursday (19.05.16).
The 51-year-old royal – the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – appeared to have a spring in her step as she arrived at Licensed Victuallers’ School in Oxford after being invited to the facility as a guest of honour.
The countess – who is also known as Sophie – was treated to a tour of the school before being introduced to staff and some of its pupils – 48 in total – aged between 11 and 19.
After her guided tour, Sophie, who is patron of the National Autistic Society, was taken to a marquee in the garden where students, staff and their families were gathered.
The beauty was then presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a book of experiences from the students.
The director of special educational needs at the school, Sarah Sherwood, who helped set up LVS Oxford’s sister school in 2009 LVS Hassocks in West Sussex, told the Oxfordshire Guardian newspaper: "I think it’s been absolutely amazing. It’s lovely so many people have come. I think it’s great recognition for the school."
