Lionel Richie to receive the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Award

Lionel Richie will receive the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Award.
The 66-year-old ‘Hello’ hitmaker – who has sold over 100 million records globally – is set to pick up the prestigious accolade, which recognises him for his long and successful music career, at the annual charity event held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on July 1.
Speaking ahead of the bash about nabbing the title rock band Iron Maiden previously won, the father of three – who has Nicole, 34, Sofia, 21, and Miles, 17 – said: "I am so proud to be one of the few Americans to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award which supports such a wonderful charity. Nordoff Robbins dedicate themselves to changing lives through music, and to me that is something truly special."
The Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards, which has been running for 41 years, has raised nearly £10 million to fund the Nordoff Robbins charity who provide music therapy for people of all ages.
Meanwhile, former ‘X Factor’ co-host Olly Murs will take home the gong for AEG Live Best Male Artist Award, whilst ‘The Dog Days Are Over’ singer songwriter Florence Welch will be presented with the Best Female Artist Award.
Jess Glynne will gain the Jack Daniel’s Best Newcomer award and André Rieu is due to bag the PPL Classical Award.
Speaking about the honour, the ‘Dear Darlin” vocalist said: "I am thrilled to have won the AEG Live Best Male Artist Award. To be recognised by Nordoff Robbins, a charity who do such amazing work in helping so many people through music therapy, is a real honour. I look forward collecting my award at the event in July!"
Meanwhile, the four-times Grammy award winner Lionel is currently on his world tour, which will bring him to Europe this Summer, and he will perform at this year’s British Summer Time festival in July.
