Kickstarter campaign launched to make Lullaby movie

‘Fight Club’ author Chuck Palahniuk has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to turn his novel ‘Lullaby’ into a low-budget movie.
The 54-year-old novelist wants to get together $250,000 to fund production for the proposed movie, which centres on a reporter whose family died in mysterious circumstances years earlier.
The campaign page states: "[Chuck] began writing ‘Lullaby’ during the trial of his father’s murderer in 1999. The prosecutor came to Chuck and asked him if he wanted to advocate for the death penalty. This idea spawned the culling song, or the power of the word to cast a spell, and the story of ‘Lullaby’ was created."
The 30-day fundraising campaign was launched on Tuesday (17.05.16) and has already raised in excess of $30,000.
As part of the fundraising effort, contributors have been told that for $30, they can get their name in the movie’s credits, while for $5,000, they can play an extra in the film.
The campaign page said: "Chuck doesn’t write for mainstream audiences. His books challenge everything about mainstream audiences. His novel ‘Lullaby’ deploys necrophilia, gender-bending, and no-way-would-this-make-it-to-comfortable-TV satire.
"We want to make a movie that makes people feel uncomfortable enough to think original thoughts again, just like Chuck’s novels do."
Chuck plans to co-write the project with director Andy Mingo, and it will be his first screenplay.
Chuck’s most famous novel, ‘Fight Club’, was turned into a money-spinning movie in 1999 and featured a star-studded cast that included the likes of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.
The David Fincher-directed movie grossed $100 million worldwide and was also generally well-received by critics.
Another of Chuck’s novels, ‘Choke’, was also turned into a movie in 2008, with Sam Rockwell playing a starring role.
