Robbie Williams’ fence war

Robbie Williams is at war with his parish council over a fence.
The 42-year-old singer – who has children Teddy, three, and 18-month-old son Charlton with wife Ayda Field – wants to erect a fence at his £9 million Wiltshire home but the parish council has objected because it would "adversely affect the visual amenity" of Compton Bassett church across the road.
Parish Council chairman Pete Szczesiak told The Sun: "The parish council objected to the plans for the fencing because they are not in keeping with the surrounding area.
"We have advised Wiltshire Council and the plans have not been decided yet. It has now gone to them. We felt the fencing was too high for the neighbouring church.
"We suggested they plant hedges and that would be in more keeping with the area. We have had no response from them to the parish council as of yet."
Robbie previously tried to sell the house but has not been able to find a buyer as it is situated next to a landfill.
Mr Szczesiak added: "I think the property is still on the market. I don’t know the circumstances surrounding Robbie’s house, all I know is that he spent a lot of money when he bought it and has done a lot of work on it.
"The only bad news is that it overlooks the local waste disposal. If you had that kind of money to spend would you have a house next to a landfill? The landfill was extended and that happened after he bought it."
This isn’t the first time Robbie has clashed with neighbours over property, he previously endured a planning battle with Led Zeppelin rocker Jimmy Page over attempts to refurbish his London home.
Robbie had to withdraw two sets of plans after his famous neighbour claimed the work would damage his residence, but had his third application – which includes the removal of a swimming pool and gym, and construction of a new garage – approved.
Robbie and Ayda, 36, bought the London house for £17.5 million in 2013.
