Prince Philip visits British Red Cross

Britain’s Prince Philip paid a visit to the British Red Cross centre in London on Tuesday afternoon (10.05.16).
The 94-year-old royal – the husband of Queen Elizabeth – has been president of the charity for 13 years and called by the non-profit organisation in the capital to meet with staff and volunteers, as well as check out their services.
During his quick stop over, the prince also had chance to meet life-long volunteer Audrey Tibble, 90, and thank her for pouring her heart into the charity for the last 73 years.
Philip shook Audrey’s hand and presented her with a certificate of commendation for her remarkable service.
The royal also met Sleman, a 28-year-old Syrian refugee, who fled Aleppo in 2012 and is now a refugee service co-ordinator with the charity and spends a large proportion of his time running a project for refugee men in Leeds.
Meanwhile, Philip was recently praised for his down-to-earth sense of humour by opera singer Katherine Jenkins, who is set to perform for the royal family at the Queen’s 90th birthday in June, and she can’t wait to have more chats with him.
She said recently: "He’s [Philip] always very relaxed in what he says. You never know what he’s going to say, and I find that very funny! I sat next to him when I went for lunch at Buckingham Palace and he said, ‘You’re the girl from the rugby!’ He just says exactly what he’s thinking."
