Yolanda Foster defends Gigi Hadid’s modelling succes

Yolanda Foster says her daughter Gigi Hadid’s "hard work" has brought her success – following comments the "social media star" isn’t a "true supermodel".
The ‘Real Housewives’ star, 52, has hit back at criticism directed at the 21-year-old model and her friend Kendall Jenner, 20, after Rebecca Romijn said it was "frustrating" they had rocketed to the top of the modelling world thanks to their popularity on sites such as Twitter and Instagram.
Yolanda – who was also a model in her formative years – tweeted: "Kind, hard working and they accomplished more at half your age in the fashion industry."
She added: "It’s THEIR hard work and daily commitment to their profession that got them where they R today #NoParentsInvolved."
Her tweets follow comments made by Rebecca, who was asked in an interview what she thought about "the new generation of models such as Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid".
Rebecca replied that they were simply "social media stars" and she is "disappointed" they were gaining so much attention in the fashion world.
The ‘X-Men’ actress said: "They are not true supermodels. And the thing is, I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way, not be a follower. … So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards."
However, when one user speculated that Romin’s comments weren’t directed at Gigi, Yolanda hit back: "Did you even bother to see what she said on entertainment tonight? No need 2 throw shade on hard-working children(sic)"
