Ariel Winter is going to college

Ariel Winter is going to college.
The 18-year-old actress – who has portrayed Alex Dunphy on ‘Modern Family’ since she was 11 – has accepted a place at the University College of Los Angeles (UCLA), she revealed on Instagram today (28.04.16).
Alongside a photo of her online admissions page, she wrote: "It’s an AMAZING DAY! I’m going to UCLA.
"Thank you to everyone who has been there for me on this journey! #bruinsbaby (sic)"
Ariel – who was granted legal emancipation from her mother, Chrisoula Workman, last year, three years after her older sister Shanelle Gray became her guardian – has previously spoken of her desire to study business or law so she has a back-up plan in case acting work dries up.
She previously said: "You never know if something’s not going to work out, if one day acting is, like, ‘No, we don’t like you anymore!’
"You gotta have something else you can do.
"I’ve always been interested in law, so I think it’ll definitely be something that I’ll love to do and also go to school for."
The teenage star recently admitted her life has been "better and safer" since she was granted control of her own affairs.
She said: "It’s most definitely hard to grow up in the industry, but just [to] grow up in any instance without a mother from a very young age.
"And it has been very sad for me, but at the same time it’s been much better for me emotionally and physically to be on my own and have a better, safer household and support system.
"I don’t really talk about the reason that I don’t speak to my mother. It’s kind of been publicised, but the reason I don’t really share that is because I want to give her the respect that she didn’t give to me publicly."
