Leah Remini encouraged Scientology leader’s dad to pen memoir

Leah Remini encouraged the Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige’s father to pen a memoir on the cult.
The 45-year-old actress reached out to Ron Miscavige, who joined the organisation in the late 1960s, when she heard he had turned his back on the church because she wanted to try and persuade him to share his "story" on his son’s "brutal approach" to running the organisation.
She explained: "I called him and I offered my support because I know he must have felt alone. I just wanted him to know that we were willing to take them in.
"There is no place for them to go unless they have family outside of the church, which is very rare."
Ron has been slammed with abuse from the church since it was announced he was penning ‘Ruthless: Scientology, My Son David Miscavige, and Me’ because they believe he’s only opened up in order to make money out of David.
However, Leah – who left the church after 30 years in 2013 – believes it’s important ex-members follow in her footsteps by releasing a book, like her memoir ‘Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology’, to prove to the leader that they’re not afraid to speak out against it.
Speaking on ABC’s ’20/20′, she said: "We’ll all speak up. You’re not gonna bully people telling their stories."
Meanwhile, despite her outspoken stance about the church and its members – most notably Tom Cruise – Leah doesn’t regret her time within the organisation.
She said recently: "Regrets? No, I’m here now. I wouldn’t be here in this moment between these wonderful people. I’m happy that I’m here with experience."
