The 24-year-old actor plays pilot Dylan Dubrow-Hiller in the sci-fi blockbuster and has teased that director Ronald Emmerich – who helmed the original alien blockbuster in 1996 – has created a big screen experience that is unparalleled.
Speaking to website Collider, Jessie said: "Roland and his digital team, what they wanted people to take from this movie is how much larger than life this alien species is. So we can’t even stress how big the film will be. We can’t tell you how big the fight will be, it’s just larger than you can imagine. Whatever you think, you’re not ready for what’s to come."
The sequel reunites some of the original cast including Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pullman, picking up 20 years after the events of the first film when the alien threat returns to Earth in full force, launching a new fight for humanity’s survival.
Jessie’s character Dylan is the son of Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller from the first film and his widow Jasmine Dubrow-Hiller, played by Vivica, and he insists it was great to have stars from ‘Independence Day’ on set in order to get advice.
He said: "I got a chance to work with Vivica quite a bit having her be my mother. It was great to hear those stories from her about how the first film went and that process versus this one. And she gave me all these pep talks like, oh you got this on and off camera, as that’s kind of like her role , in terms of our relationship because she knows there’s a lot of pressure on me and she’s trying to neutralize that. There’s a lot of pressure being part of a film this large but she’s very motherly in sense on and off camera. It was great I loved it."
