Alan Titchmarsh airlifted to hospital with gallstones

Alan Titchmarsh was airlifted to hospital earlier this month after he collapsed in agony with excruciating gallstones.
The television gardener was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, Isle of Wight, on April 5 for emergency treatment after he slumped over in crippling pain at home following a feast of fish and chips and a calorific Easter egg.
His agent told The Sun newspaper: "Alan was in agony after eating fish and chips and an Easter egg. He was airlifted to hospital but was quickly told the pain was caused by gallstones. He is in tip-top condition and has been out boating since. He will be looking at the food he eats."
The 66-year-old green-finger legend also has to take medication – Statins – every day to ward off heart disease after the coronary condition claimed the lives of a number of his relatives – including his beloved father at the age of 62.
Alan started making drastic changes a few years ago in order to improve his health and even decided to quit his tea-time chat show to "ease up a bit, and pace" himself.
He said at the time: "I’m on Statins. The men in my family have had a tendency to die from heart disease relatively young. Outliving my dad has made me think about things. I want to get my life more in balance."
