Ricky Wilson is ‘too good’ for ITV

Ricky Wilson doesn’t want to follow ‘The Voice’ to ITV because he thinks he’s "too good" for the channel.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman – who has sat on the programme’s mentoring panel for three years – doesn’t think it will do his career any good if he sticks with the singing show when it shifts across to the network later this year because he won’t be allowed the freedom he’s had with the BBC.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he explained: "I think I am too good for ITV. I’m trying to start a new thing in my life about being confident about talking to the press."
And, although he’s adamant he won’t continue with his mentoring gig when the show returns next year, he’s admitted he’s been struck with feelings of grief in recent weeks.
He said: "I feel a little bit like grieving. I’m really going to miss it. I’ve loved every minute of it … Three years of your life and it takes up quite a lot of time, and you do invest quite emotionally in it. What a ride, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. I’m so glad I did it. I came kicking and screaming, I did it for the band, and now I don’t want to go. But life goes on."
And Ricky, 38, certainly went out with a bang over the weekend as his act Kevin Simm – who was a former member of Liberty X – was crowned the winner of the final BBC series.
Ricky added: "This is a dream result. I think everyone knew, even on the coaching panel, that this was the right outcome."
