Idris Elba was nervous about performing at Madonna’s concert.
The 43-year-old actor – who DJ’s under the name Big Driis – opened for the singer at the Berlin concert of her ‘Rebel Heart’ tour in Germany in November and admitted he found it daunting but exciting.
He said: "I got the email out of the blue but I’m a DJ for hire and she wanted a great one. So I ended up opening for her at one of her concerts.
"I was standing by the curtain before I went on and I made the mistake of peeking… then I saw 17,000 people looking back and then I ended up going out there to entertain them. I was excited, I had a great time. Madonna is a legend."
Idris also admitted that he finds DJing relaxing.
He told the Sunday Mirror’s Notebook magazine: "It’s my secret hobby and it’s been a big part of my life. I supported myself working as a DJ while I was struggling to make it as a young actor and when I went to the States in the late 90s I was able to make good money to pay the bills until I started getting enough work in TV. Then when I did my album I think a few people were surprised when they enjoyed it."
