Zayn Malik thinks marijuana helps with his "creative process".
The ‘Pillow Talk’ singer has been smoking the illegal substance "for a while" but doesn’t want to encourage his impressionable young fans to take up the habit.
He said: "I’ve probably been smoking for a while.
"I don’t wanna say when I started because I don’t want to influence anyone else. That’s just something I do myself.
"It helps sometimes with the creative process, if you’re smoking a good weed."
When he wants to relax, Zayn has a private bar in his garden, which he installed in tribute to his grandparents, who used to own a pub called The Bradford Arms.
And the 23-year-old singer built the entire booze-shed himself because he enjoys DIY.
He told the new issue of NME magazine: "It’s in tribute to me grandad.
"I bought the bits from Homebase. I put it all together. I decided to turn it into a pub. I like f***ing around with the nail gun…"
Despite his fame, Zayn – who is in a relationship with model Gigi Hadid – insists he can still walk around his home town of Bradford, West Yorkshire, North England.
He said: "When I go back to Bradford, I just put me dad’s coat on and walk about. People don’t expect it to be me."
