Hanson want Bruno Mars to cover MMMBop

Hanson want Bruno Mars to cover ‘MMMBop’.
The 90s American pop/rock band – comprised of brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac – are best known for the 1997 debut hit and have revealed they’ve not been that impressed with One Direction and The Vamps’ attempts to re-imagine the track and other covers, but think ‘Uptown Funk’ hitmaker Bruno could be the artist to do it justice.
In a new interview with Vulture magazine, Isaac, 35, said: "People can’t sing the chorus right. Most of the time they syncopate it wrong.
"But if Bruno Mars were interested, he’d probably find a way to kill it."
Taylor, 33, added: "Someone needs to either make it totally their own in a genuinely unique way, or it needs to be a band that has a sensibility for old R&B. Fitz and the Tantrums could maybe do it."
The group have also revealed the up tempo song – which reached number one in 27 countries – has a deeper meaning behind it than might be perceived.
Lyrics include: "You have so many relationships in this life/ only one or two will last / you go through all the pain and strife/ then you turn your back and they’re gone so fast.
"So hold on the ones who really care / in the end they’ll be the only ones there / and when you get old and start losing your hair / can you tell me who will still care?"
Discussing the track’s lyrics, Taylor explained: "I think a lot of people did not (realise the song’s underlying tone). And that makes sense. But hopefully over time, the staying power of that song is about the fact that it’s more than it looks like at first glance. That hook is what gets you in, but what’s below that is what keeps you there."
