Britain’s Prince Harry helps wheelchair bound woman

Britain’s Prince Harry rescued a wheelchair-bound woman who fell from her chair at the Invictus Games trials over the weekend.

The 31-year-old royal attended the event to watch the UK team hopefuls at the University of Bath’s Sports Training Village, which took place between Friday and Sunday, and was chatting to RAF medic Anna Pollock at the side of the running track when she was toppled over by the strong windy weather.

But Harry leapt to her rescue and Anna, from Middlesborough – who was left partially paraplegic after an unexpected spinal chord bleed – told reporters: "I saw him and thought I’ve got to take the opportunity to ask for a picture.

I was just putting my gloves back on and sat back in my chair when the wind took me over. Harry said to me ‘What did you do that for?!’

"I said, ‘To show you how not to do that!’ He was so lovely to help me and he gives so much. He makes all the lads and the lasses feel important."

Anna was taking part in the 200m, 400m and 1500m cycling event watched by the flame-haired prince – who founded the Paralympic-style sporting event for wounded soldiers in 2014 – and he later also watched wheelchair tennis.

The 2016 Invictus Games will take place May 8 -12 in Orlando, USA.
